FS Service menu - addendum
The Service menu is a hidden feature that allows service engineers and labour managers to
perform special functions that should not be made available to production employees.
Functions and intended use
The Service menu can be entered on an operational FS Reader by keeping the left soft button
pressed and then pressing the right, the middle and again the right soft buttons.
The service menu then shows the following options:
1.
Exit service menu
2.
Extended diagnostics
3.
Generate scans
4.
Transport mode
5.
Reboot
6.
Factory reset
Use the left and right soft buttons to move up and down the menu and press the middle soft
button to select the highlighted option from the menu.
Exit service menu
Selecting this option returns the FS Reader to normal operation.
Extended diagnostics
Selecting this option activates a sequence of six screens with additional technical information
(Real Time Clock, Network characteristics and settings, Disk characteristics, Power characteristics,
Reboot count).
Generate scans
Selecting this option presents the user the question whether 100 scans should be generated.
Choosing ‘Yes’ creates 100 dummy number scans for the numbers 1..100 and these scans will
then be transmitted over the wireless network.
Transport mode
Selecting this option presents the user the question whether the FS Reader should be brought
into ‘Transport mode’. Choosing ‘Yes’ will reboot the FS Reader after which it is put in a low power
state. Any operational data on the FS Reader will remain intact.
To resume normal operation, put the FS Reader in a powered charging cradle or execute the
special start sequence (while holding the left button: press right button, then middle button, then
right button again and release all buttons).
