Introduction
GearTronic² is a gear indicator with 6 different back-lights, which can be selected directly by the user, and flash revving with 5 levels of setting. The 37mm LCD display
guarantees perfect visualisation even under direct sun-light, while the 5 ultra-luminous LEDs allow you to have perfect visibility of the engine revs, even during the day.
IMPORTANT: GearTronic² identifies the gear by calculating the ratio between speed and engine revs. The device therefore does not display the gears
when the vehicle is stationary and any clutch operation could indicate an incorrect gear.
IMPORTANT: All PZRacing products are water resistant but not waterproof, do not wash the product under water jet pressure, the product could be
irreparably damaged.
Installation
Display installation
The main module has to be positioned in a way as to benefit from optimal visibility. When you have found the ideal position, you can secure the indicator by using the supplied
adhesive material which can be found in the box or by using the two supplied screws to the two holes at the back of the device.
Electrical connections
Refer to the applications table, in the case where motion is not present in your use general instructions below:
Red:
Ignition switched 12V -
Brown
: Ground –
Blue:
Tachometer –
Green:
Odometer –
White:
Not connected, just for calibration
Keep isolated the white wire until the moment of calibration.
Use
Turning on/off the device
GearTronic² works completely automatically, the switching on and off of the device will operate using the key of the bike.
Shiftlight set-tp
1- Turn on the vehicle and the engine in “Neutral”,
2- Enter into “calibration” mode into 10 seconds, taking the WHITE wire to “ground” or rather to a non painted point of the vehicle frame.
3- Remove white wire from “ground” when SET-UP appear in the display,
4- Bring the WHITE wire to “earth” for a second when the upper leds are flashing, the green side leds only will start flashing,
5- Bring the engine up to the engine revs where you would like to setup the start of the led bar, bring the WHITE wire to “earth” for a second, the red led will start flashing.
6- Bring the engine up to the engine revs where you would like to setup the base sequence of the led bar, bring the WHITE wire to “earth” the device will automatically
calculate all the remaining intervention thresholds. To confirm the finishing of the setup procedure will be confirmed by the led blinking.
Backlight set-up
1- Turn on the vehicle.
2- Enter into “calibration” mode into 10 seconds, taking the WHITE wire to “ground” or rather to a non painted point of the vehicle frame.
3- Remove white wire from “ground” when SET-UP appear in the display.
4- Bring the WHITE wire to “ground” for one second when the backlight is flashing, all the back-light colours will start appearing in sequence.
5- Bring the WHITE wire to “ground” for one second, when you have visualized the colour you have chosen.
Gear indicator set-up
It's necessary set the device before use; if the dashboard shows the speed even with the bike on the rear stand you can set the indicator on the stand, in the opposite case or if
you don't have a rear stand you have to set the indicator in the street:
1- Turn on the vehicle and the engine in “Neutral”.
2- Enter into “calibration” mode into 10 seconds, taking the WHITE wire to “ground” or rather to a non painted point of the vehicle frame.
3- Remove white wire from “ground” when SET-UP appear in the display.
4- Bring the WHITE wire to “earth” for a second when the word “GEARTRONIC” is flashing, the device will show the number “1”.
5- Remove the white wire, put into first gear and keep the engine revs around 4/5000 rpm constantly.
6- After five seconds a flashing number 2 will appear, put into second gear and continue to keep the engine revs around 4/5000 rpm constantly.
7- Continue in this way with all the gears of your vehicle.
8- When GearTronic² displays the next gear (ex. If your bike has 6 gears wait will 7), slow down or stop without turn off the engine.
9- GearTronic will automatically understand that the set up procedure has finished and will switch to normal display, showing the gear inserted.
Troubleshooting
The GearTronic² has a self-diagnostic function that allows users to identify problem, therefore if the procedure has not been successfully completed, GearTronic² will show
one of the errors below:
Error E1:
If, after the procedure, the device will display a "ERROR 1", the GearTronic² will be pointing out the failure detection signal of speed, then check the connection of
the green wire of the device and repeat the "calibration".
Error E2:
If the device displays "ERROR 2", the GearTronic² will be pointing out the failure detection signal of engine revs, then check the connection of the blue thread of
the device and repeat the "calibration".
In the case of device malfunction check all the links, if the problem persists rerun your set-up making sure to maintain a constant engine revs after insertion of the gear.
