Removing USB Cable(Windows)
Close all the software programs which are currently being used.
Click the icon at the right bottom of the screen as shown in the picture.
Disconnect the USB cable.
Do not disconnect the USB cable while the drive
is in operation or the computer is getting started.

Solving Technical Problems
The Eject key does not work
properly.
•
Check if the drive turns on.
The PC is not working properly.
The drive is not working properly.
No sound is heard from an audio
disc.
The computer doesn't recognize
the drive.
•
If the disc will still not be ejected, remove the USB
cable and power cord, and insert a sharp-edged
object into the emergency hole to open the tray.
•
Check if the drive is properly connected to the PC.
•
Check if the floppy disc remains in the PC.
•
See if the drive is connected properly to the PC.
•
See if the device drive program has been installed
properly.
•
Check if the sound adaptor card works properly.
•
Check the condition of the disc and dust off
the disc on the surface before use.
•
The USB cable is not connected properly to the
computer. Check if the USB cable is properly con-
nected between computer and drive.
•
Ensure that either end of the USB cable is properly
connected to the appropriate USB port of the com-
puter and the drive.
•
Can be an OS problem. Try to reinstall the
Windows OS program.
•
The friction noise generated during SPIN-UP and STOP is caused by the
Automatic Ball Balancing System(ABS) and is not a malfunction.

Your Discs
Using the DVD Writer
•
Do not expose it to the direct sunlight.
•
Place it so that it stands on its side on a flat surface.
•
Do not scratch or place a label on the disc.
•
Handle the disc with caution to prevent damage
from external shock.
•
Do not place it in an area of severe temperature fluctuations.
(Exposure to such environment may cause congealing.) .
Storing Your Discs
•
Run the CD player program supplied with the sound card
or play the Windows Media Player.
Playing CD-DA/Audio CDs
•
Follow the instructions provided with the disc.
•
A video card or MPEG software and a sound card need to be installed to view video CDs.
Playing Video CDs
•
Do not touch the surface
of a disc; hold it by the
edges.
•
To clean a disc, polish lightly
from the inside of the disc to the
outside with a soft cotton cloth.
Cleaning Your Discs
•
Use only disc-cleaning liquids. Do not use benzene, paint thinner, or any other solvents.
•
The disc may not function properly if there are fingerprints, foreign substances or
dust on the disc surface.

Connect the USB cable to the PC and check if

completed, insert a disc(CD/DVD) into the drive.

window, play the disc inserted.

If the disc has a crack (especially around the center hole),
it is recommended that you make a copy immediately and
use the copy instead.
When a cracked disc is used continuously,the size of the
crack is likely to grow and it will eventually result in irreparable
damage to the disc.

damaged discs).

Connecting the Cables to the
External DVD Writer
In order to use this drive at the speed of USB 2.0 on a PC that does not support
USB 2.0, you need to install a USB 2.0 adapter card. Otherwise, this drive will
operate by connecting USB 1.1, but within the speed range of USB 1.1. You can
check the type of USB 2.0 adapter card that is supported by your PC as follows.
Windows 2000/XP/Vista
Right-click on My Computer icon on your desktop and select properties. Then,
click on Hardware tab and Device Manager Button in order, and then check the
information. If a yellow "exclamation point" appears next to Universal Serial Bus
Controller, contact the card or PC manufacturer for your assistance.
Checking USB 2.0
Connect the necessary cable, then turn on the drive.
- Connect the USB cable to the drive’s USB connector.
Connect the other end of the USB cable to your computer.
Normal operation is not guaranteed if you use a USB HUB or unspecified cable
for the connection.
In a PC that does not supply sufficient USB bus power, the drive may not work
properly if you use a single-port USB bus power.
To avoid this, use two ports in conjunction for power enhancement.
