Installation
Checking the pressure readings:
1. Place a handpiece coupling onto an air pressure gauge, if available.
2. Place the gauge onto the dental unit tubing.
3. Shut off the water and place your foot onto the rheostat.
4. Adjust the drive air, chip air & water on the unit, as necessary, to reach the recom-
mended pressure readings.
Pressure readings for the STAT
IS
SL & ML:
•
Drive air = 2.1-4.2 bar (30-60 p.s.i.)
•
Recommendation = 2.8 bar (40 p.s.i.)
•
Return air < 0.5 bar (7 p.s.i.)
•
Water = 0.8-2.5 bar (11-36 p.s.i.)
•
Spray air = 1.0-4.0 bar (14-57 p.s.i.)
○
The minimum amount of water required for spray cooling is
50 mL per min. An insufficient amount of water may cause
overheating of the tooth.
Checking the STAT
IS
SL & ML coupling:
All 5 O-rings must be in place and should not be damaged. Missing or damaged O-rings
should be replaced, or they may result in premature failure or negatively affect handpiece
performance.
Important notes for burs & diamonds:
Diamond and carbide use: Only use burs that have shafts compliant with IS0 1797-1
type 3, made from steel or tungsten carbide and that meet the following criteria:
•
Shaft diameter from 1.59 -1.60 mm.
•
Overall length up to max. 25 mm.
•
Shaft clamping length of at least 11 mm.
•
Cutting edge diameter up to max. 2 mm.
•
Short shank burs can be used with the STAT
IS
SL 101.1 model.
