Quick Install Guide
Introduction
This product (
part # UPS-5AH-12V
) is a
self-contained 12-volt DC battery backup
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) containing
a internal, sealed lead acid battery. It is charged
from the vehicle’s electrical system, and provides
the Safe Fleet recorder (and any accessories
it powers) a constant, uninterruptible power
source.
Setpoints (see page 3) constantly monitor the
vehicle’s battery, and based on its condition
switch the voltage between the vehicle battery
and the backup (UPS) battery.
Read these instructions carefully before
installing this product.
A qualified service person, complying with all applicable codes, should perform the installation.
To use this document, you must have the following minimum qualifications:
• Basic knowledge of electronic surveillance systems and components
• Familiarity with electrical wiring and low voltage electrical hookups

If your UPS is to be returned for service, please call toll free 1.877.630.7366, or 1.844.899.7366,
and provide the model and/or serial# of your unit.
Ask for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. An RMA# allows the Service
Technicians to better track your product when it comes in for service. Please show the RMA# on
the outside of the package. ANY PRODUCT SENT WITHOUT AN RMA# MAY BE REFUSED.

Location
The UPS fits in inside a 6W X 6.5L X 5.5H (inches) / 15.2W x 16.5L x 14H
(centimeters) space. A shelf in the equipment cabinet is ideal.
Do not install the UPS in a location where the unit is exposed to excessive
moisture,heat, or dust.
Orientation
Mount horizontally on a flat surface. Do not mount vertically. Do not hang-
mount
Wiring
Use minimum gauge 14 AWG wire (
not supplied
) to connect the UPS
Main and GND terminals to the vehicle battery.

Diagram on page 2.
Route the wiring away from sharp edges that might damage the insulation.
Installation Requirements
