General Safety Information
Speedaire exhaust reclassifiers are utilized in
a variety of air system applications. Because
the exhaust reclassifier and other
components (compressor, spray gun, filters,
regulators, lubricators, hoses, etc.) make up a
high pressure pumping system, the following
safety precautions should be observed at all
times.
1. Read the instruction manuals for each
component carefully before attempting to
assemble, disassemble, or operate your
particular system.
2. Do not exceed the pressure rating of any
component in the system.
3. Protect material lines and air lines from
damage or puncture.
4. Never point a spray gun at oneself or any
other person. Accidental discharge may
result in serious injury.
5. Check hoses for weak or worn condition
before each use, making certain that all
connections are secure.
6. Release all pressures within the system
before attempting to service any
component.
Materials
Body: Aluminum
Sump: Polypropylene
Element: Steel, synthetic foam and fiber
Elastomer: Nitrile
Installation
1. Shut OFF air pressure. Install exhaust
reclassifier vertically (bowl down). Mount
in a location that will allow easy access for
draining sump.
2. It may be necessary to add a flow control
valve to the outlet of the air motor or
valve exhaust port if motor or cylinder
extension or retraction speeds need to be
regulated.
3. Multiple small valve exhausts may be
plumbed into one exhaust reclassifier
providing that the maximum pressure
rating of the reclassifier unit will not be
exceeded. Use a pressure manifold (rated
for the maximum pressure of your air
supply) for this purpose.
4. The temperature of the air entering the
reclassifier filter element must not exceed
the maximum temperature rating of the
unit. The reclassifier must not be used on
heat regenerated air dryers!
Operation
1.Open manual drain to expel accumulated
liquids.
2. If coalescing filters are used to filter the
inlet air prior to the regulator or
lubricator, the service life of the exhaust
reclassifier element will be greatly
increased. If sub-micronic filtration is not
used, reclassifier element life will depend
on the exhaust flow rate and exhaust air
contamination. The exhaust reclassifier
element should be replaced periodically.
Disassembly
1. Exhaust reclassifier can be disassembled
without removal from air line.
2. Shut OFF inlet pressure. Reduce pressure
in inlet line to zero.
3. Unsnap and remove sump.
4. Unscrew exhaust reclassifier element.
Assembly
1. Use a wrench to tighten the element.
Tightening by hand could damage the
filter element, or cause it to loosen in the
end caps. Tighten only to obtain a snug
fit. Do not over tighten. Over tightening
can crack the element end cap. Never
operate the exhaust reclassifier with a
cracked end cap or loose element. Injury
and/or property damage may result.
2. Snap sump into body.

Description
Speedaire exhaust reclassifiers are used to capture harmful contaminants from your air
system and to lower exhaust noise to help comply with OSHA requirements. The exhaust
reclassifier’s construction allows for high exhaust flows with very low pressure drop.
