DESCALING
Scale build-up can:
•
Lower the quality of drinks made from water boiled in
the kettle.
•
Reduce the efficiency of the kettle.
The more scale there is, the longer the kettle will take
to boil.
•
Cause the element to overheat, reducing its working
life.
•
Cause the boil-dry protection system to operate
prematurely, switching the kettle off before the water
has actually boiled.
You should therefore descale the kettle regularly,
especially in hard water areas.
Before descaling, switch off and remove the kettle from
the base and let it cool down completely.
Use a suitable descaling product, and follow all of its
instructions.
After descaling, boil with fresh water several times to
ensure no trace of the descaler remains in the kettle.
Alternatively, you can descale using white vinegar:
•
Pour three cupfulls of white vinegar into the kettle and
fill up with water.
•
Do not turn on the kettle.
•
Leave the solution in the kettle overnight.
•
Empty the solution from the kettle. Boil with fresh water
several times to ensure no trace of the solution
remains in the kettle.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO UK USERS
The power cord is terminated with a UK approved mains
plug fitted with a 13A fuse. If the fuse needs to be replaced,
an ASTA or BSI approved BS1362 13A fuse must be used.
If you need to change the mains plug, remove the fuse, cut
the plug from the cord and dispose of it safely. Fit the new
plug. Seek professional assistance if required.
