EXPLOSION PROOF TALKBACK HORN
INTRODUCTION
The V-1069 is an Explosion Proof Handsfree
Talkback Horn designed to be used with Valcom
Handsfree Talkback Control Units features -
explosion proof construction, metal and
polycarbonate plastic construction, a wide dispersion
angle, and an omni-directional mounting bracket and
may be used for either interior or exterior paging
applications.
The horn meets or exceeds UL standards for use in
hazardous areas classified as: Class I, Groups C &
D; Gas Atmospheres; Class II, Groups E, F, & G,
Dust Atmospheres (Metal Carbon or Grain).
The V-1069 has received an FCC type KX
registration, designed to be used with FCC registered
Key Telephone Systems. In accordance with FCC
rules with applicable tariffs, this Paging Unit may
only be installed with the authorization of the host
system. Installations may be made by Valcom, Inc.,
an authorized agent of the same, equipment
manufacturers, telephone companies, registered
telephone refurbishers, and those qualified for
installation of FCC registered systems under FCC
Rules Section 68.215. The FCC Registration
Number, BAF9I7-69358-KX-N, will be listed in the
affidavits filed with the telephone company; it will
also be recorded in the system log kept by installation
and maintenance personnel. The local telephone
company is to be notified of the FCC Registration
Number when this Paging Unit is installed.

INSTALLATION
CAUTION: To prevent ignition of hazardous
atmosphere, disconnect product from supply circuit
before opening. Keep assembly tightly closed when
in operation. Unit must be installed in accordance
with National Electrical Code requirements for
hazardous atmospheres.
Exercise special care in removing back cover of
explosion-proof driver enclosure to avoid damaging
machined surfaces. Prior to re-assembly, make
certain that joining surfaces of enclosure are free of
dirt. Install and tighten all bolts completely. To
provide the specified protection in hazardous
locations, please note that no compound of any type
is to be applied on machined flange.
Caution must be exercised in not placing the speaker
assembly near noise making equipment such as fans,
transformers, air conditioner units, etc., as this will
impair the transmission back to the caller.
Mount the horn to a suitable surface 10 to 15 feet
from the floor taking into account installation and
maintenance accessibility. By loosening the two nuts
which fasten the mounting bracket to the horn, the
horn may be moved up and down to obtain the
desired position.
Connect "D" station wire (or other suitable pairs) to
the proper speaker leads for connection to the audio
source (tip and ring). Limit cable runs from Valcom
Talkback Control Unit to talkback horns to not more
than 800 feet.
