*DECLINATION
The angular difference between Magnetic North and True North is declination. The earth’s magnetic
poles fluctuate over time. Go to http://ngdc.noaa.gov/seg/geomag/declination.shtml or check your
local geophysical center. Declination also varies depending on your exact location. Set the
declination on the ST-5000 to offset the difference between Magnetic North and True North.

performed by a qualified technician who
should also check the condition of the
gaskets and the o-ring at the same time.
Battery is not covered by the warranty.
HOLD HORIZONTAL, just as a compass.
Turn LEFT for NEGATIVE declinati.
Turn RIGHT for POSITIVE declination.
NOTE: Before setting declination, you must
determine your declination based on your
location. *See belowr more information.
NOTE: Default reaction time is 15.
GREEN light indicates correct rotation speed.
YELLOW light indicates if rotation speed is too
fast or too slow. Rotate backward until GREEN
lights again and proceed rotating.
HOLD HORIZONTAL, just as a compass
and rotate clockwise two full rotations.
One SHORT PUSH to validate.
GREEN light shows compass is CALIBRATED.
RED lights signal the calibration was
unsuccessful and MUST BE REDONE.
One SHORT PUSH to finalize.
One SHORT PUSH will set
desired display time to finalize.
TO EXIT: two short pushes
returns to Compass mode
After 15 seconds, ST-5000 will
go into pathfinder pause mode.
TO WAKE-UP: one short push
Point timepiece to desired direction and
use one SHORT PUSH to lock in HEADING
Green arrow depicts True North while LCD
display indicates direction you are heading
