Using the Sequencer in the DXPIII

The DXPIII module has an internal two-track sequencer with 95 pre-recorded
(factory) songs that you can play along with, and 32 user songs where you can
record your own performance. You can mute the drum tracks out of the factory
songs and play along as a tool for learning to play different musical styles. This
tutorial will teach you how to use the play-along and record features of the
sequencer.

Play along with a Factory song:

Press the SONG button. The screen will show you the song tempo, time
signature, song number and name. The song number will be flashing.
Press the + or – button to select the song you want to play.
Press the        /        button to play the selected song.
To change the song tempo press the < button until the tempo is flashing. Press
the + or – button to change the tempo.

Recording your own playing:

To record your own playing, first you have to set up the sequencer:
Hold down the SHIFT button and press the REC button.
The measure indicator will be flashing 999. (Press the minus-) button until the
number of measures you want to record is indicated.

Cursor right with the SEL       button to set the Record Mode. You can select
Overwrite (this will allow you to build a groove one instrument at a time) or
Replace (this will record over anything on that track). Change the mode with the
+ or – button.

Cursor right one more time and select the track number (1 or 2). You can record
on each track independent of each other so you can put drums on one track and
come back and record a melody or rhythm part on the other track. Change the
track with the + or – button.
