Binning (monochrome CCD models and Guppy PRO F-503B, F-
503C)
2 × binning (Guppy PRO F-503 also 4 ×)
Definition Binning
is the process of combining neighboring pixels while being read out
from the sensor.
Binning is used primarily for 3 reasons:
•
A reduction in the number of pixels; thus, the amount of data while
retaining the original image area angle
•
An increase in the frame rate (vertical binning only)
Note
•
Switch off camera and switch on again:
defect pixel data will get lost
•
Initialize camera (start-up or soft reset):
non-volatile stored defect pixel data are loaded
automatically
Note
•
Binning does not change offset, brightness or blacklevel.
