Entering Commands - Non-Modal Format
A non-modal command is entered all at once, on a single command line. For
example, the
alarm
command entered above could have been entered as follows:
CLI> module chassis 1 slot 6 alarm exit <Enter>
No active alarms found
Success!
CLI>
Because of its relative efficiency, this is the preferred command entry format for
network management systems. Craft operators may also find non-modal command
entry to be more efficient when they are already very familiar with the syntax of the
command being used.
Command Syntax
The general format of a non-modal CLI command, as it usually should be sent from
a network management system, is as follows:
modename modeoptions action actionoptions values exit eol
where the keywords in the command serve the following functions:

The general format of a modal CLI command, as a craft operator might send it, is as
