Basic Configuration of GARP
9.8.1.1
GVRP/GMRP Timers
If you modify the GARP timer values, it affects the behavior of all GARP applications run-
ning on the switch, GVRP as well as GMRP. Both GVRP and GMRP use the same timers
of GARP. When you set the timer values, the value for leave must be greater than three
times the join timer values. The value for leaveall must be greater than the value for leave.
There are three GARP timers as shown below:
•
join:
An interval to send GVRP/GMRP Join messages.
•
leave:
A period of state transition from the registration state of an attribute to the
withdrawal state of it.
•
leaveall:
An interval to generate LeaveAll message which triggers the appropriate
participants.
To set the GARP timer on the switch, use the following command.
