6.9 QSPI Flash Memory
The EFM32 Giant Gecko GG11 Starter Kit features a Macronix MX25R 32 Mbit external NOR flash memory connected to the EFM32's
Quad SPI (QSPI) peripheral. The external flash is memory mapped in both code space and user space, and can be used for data stor-
age or for storing program code that can be executed directly from flash due to the QSPI peripheral's execute-in-place (XIP) support.

The micro-SD slot is connected to the EFM32's SDIO peripheral. The SDIO peripheral supports both SD memory cards as well as
SDIO devices with a micro-SD form factor. The micro-SD slot has an active low card detect switch.
