Test the Macro
Test the macro by entering the following at the command line:
aruser -e [macro-name] -p [parm=xxx] -p [parm=yyy] -p [parm=zzz]
Hint: The values in brackets are variables that you provide. The string, parm, is
the substitution parameter ($parm$) that you defined when you created the
macro. For example:
aruser -e DEFINITY_Ticket -p object=switch1 -p current=major -p
previous=minor -p desc=“Major alarm on digital board”
Test the Script
Use the following steps to see if the script records trouble tickets from OpenView:
1. Make sure that the following environment variables are set according to
the Remedy documentation:
■
NSLPATH
■
ARHOME
■
ARPATH
The command line should look like:
aruser -e [macro-name] -p [object]=$1 -p [desc]=$2 -p [new state]=$3
-p [old state]=$4
2. In OpenView, cause an alarm to force a DEFINITY map object to change
states.
3. When the map object changes states, open the Remedy aruser tool and
verify that the information was recorded.
Hint: See your Remedy documentation if you need help.
4. Modify the following command, substituting your values for the values in
brackets:
aruser -e [macro-name] -p [object]=$1 -p [desc]=\”$2 $3\” -p [new
state]=$3 -p [old state]=$4
Cabletron SPECTRUM
To integrate Fault Management and Remedy on SPECTRUM, you must install the
SPECTRUM ARS Gateway. This Gateway passes filtered alarm information from
SpectroSERVER
to the Remedy AR System where trouble tickets are
automatically generated for those alarms.
