Editing TEMPLATE.IRC
From the DOS prompt, type
edit template.irc
and press
ENTER. You should now see the IRC-3 template screen. The first 23
lines that begin with “
;
” are comment statements which are not
recognized by the compiler. These statements are brief descriptions of
the parameters that you can configure, depending on the specifications
of the IRC-3 system.
The lines that DO NOT begin with “
;
” are read by the compiler and
converted into a format which can be downloaded to the LSRA(-C).
You can edit these parameters using the UP, DOWN, LEFT, and
RIGHT arrow keys to scroll through the configuration file, and make
the necessary changes by deleting the old parameter and typing in the
new one.
The last 4 lines of the configuration file for the IRC-3 template are
used to define the messages that will be displayed when the system is
in an Alarm, Supervisory, or Trouble condition. A message is also
defined to describe the status of a particular device within a zone.
Once all of the necessary changes have been made to the configuration
file, press ALT followed by DOWN to display the “
File
” menu. Use
the DOWN arrow key to highlight the “
Save
” option, then press
ENTER to select it. Exit
MS-DOS Editor
by pressing ALT and
highlighting and selecting the “
Exit
” option from the “
File
” menu. You
should now be back at the DOS prompt.
Compiling the Configuration File
The next step is to convert the configuration file that you just created
into a format that can be downloaded to the LSRA(-C). Run the
compiler by typing:
CONVERT -S<source filename> -T<target filename> -R
Where
<source filename>
is the name of the configuration file
that you just created,
<target filename>
is the name you wish to
assign to the compiled file which you will download to the LSRA(-C),
and
-R
is a compiler option which generates a Report, useful for
verifying that the parameters have been compiled correctly.
Next, the computer will display the message “
compilation
completed successfully
” if your configuration file contains no
fatal errors. If you entered an illegal parameter or made an error in
syntax, the compiler will report a “
warning
” or a “
fatal error.
”
Fatal errors require that the error be corrected and the configuration file
recompiled.
