Activating and committing changes
If
any
changes
are
made
to
the
current
configuration
through
the
CLI,
those
changes
will
not
become
active
until
you
issue
the
following
command:
Device:/>
activate
To
make
the
changes
permanent,
this
should
be
immediately
followed
by:
Device:/>
commit
Uncommitted
changes
in
CLI
listings
of
configuration
objects
are
indicated
by
a
plus
“+”
or
“*”
symbol
appearing
to
the
left
of
the
object.
If
the
commit
command
is
not
issued
within
30
seconds
(the
default
time
period),
the
activated
changes
are
automatically
undone
and
the
old
configuration
restored.
Symbols indicating object status
When
configuration
objects
are
displayed
with
a
show
command,
a
symbol
to
the
left
of
the
object’s
output
indicates
a
change
of
status
that
has
not
yet
been
committed.
Two
symbols
are
mentioned
above.
The
complete
list
is:
‐
means
the
object
has
been
deleted.
o
means
the
object
has
been
disabled.
!
means
the
object
has
errors.
+
means
the
object
has
been
newly
created.
*
means
the
object
has
been
modified.
Checking configuration integrity
After
changing
an
SEG
configuration
and
before
issuing
the
activate
and
commit
commands,
you
can
explicitly
check
for
any
problems
in
a
configuration
using
the
command:
Device:/>
show
‐
errors
This
will
cause
the
SEG
to
scan
the
configuration
about
to
be
activated
and
list
any
problems.
For
example,
a
possible
problem
might
be
a
reference
to
an
IP
object
in
the
address
book
does
not
exist
in
a
restored
configuration
backup.
All
the
changes
made
to
a
configuration
can
be
shown
before
activation
with
the
command:
Device:/>
show
‐
changes
