Automatic time synchronization
The
SEG
supports
the
optional
use
of
a
Time
Synchronization
Protocol
.
This
protocol
allows
the
current
time
to
be
automatically
retrieved
from
a
time
server
over
the
public
Internet.
Updating
the
system
clock
in
this
way
can
be
done
automatically
on
SEG
startup,
removing
the
need
for
a
battery
backup.
This
feature
is
discussed
further
in
Time
servers
on
page
35
.
Example: Setting the current date and time
To
adjust
the
current
date
and
time,
enter:
Device:/>
time
‐
set
YYYY
‐
mm
‐
DD
HH:MM:SS
Where
YYYY
‐
mm
‐
DD
HH:MM:SS
is
the
new
date
and
time.
Note
that
the
date
order
is
year,
then
month
and
then
day.
For
example,
to
set
the
date
and
time
to
9:25
in
the
morning
on
April
27th,
2011
the
command
would
be:
Device:/>
time
‐
set
2011
‐
04
‐
27
09:25:00
Note:
A
new
date
and
time
will
be
applied
by
the
SEG
as
soon
as
it
is
set.
There
is
no
requirement
to
reconfigure
or
restart
the
system.
Time zones
The
world
is
divided
up
into
a
number
of
time
zones,
with
Greenwich
Mean
Time
(GMT)
in
London
at
zero
longitude
the
base
time
zone.
All
other
time
zones
going
east
and
west
from
zero
longitude
are
GMT
plus
or
minus
a
given
period
of
time.
All
locations
counted
as
being
inside
a
given
time
zone
will
then
have
the
same
local
time
and
this
will
be
one
of
the
integer
offsets
from
GMT.
The
SEG
time
zone
setting
reflects
the
time
zone
where
the
security
gateway
is
physically
located.
Example: Setting the time zone
To
modify
the
SEG
time
zone
to
be
GMT
plus
1
hour,
enter:
Device:/>
set
DateTime
Timezone=GMTplus1
Tab
completion
can
present
a
list
of
all
time
zones.
