(Alternative configuration when ordering
several systems)
The factory default configuration is completely sufficient for the intended application
scenario. If a different configuration is desired or necessary, the following pages provide
an overview of the existing configuration options. It is assumed that you have the
necessary knowledge in handling Linux systems and especially command line based
tools.
Configuration of the Access Point
The following reasons may require a change in the configuration of the access point:
For example, if you have ordered another FebriScan system that is located within
the WLAN range of an existing one, unique SSIDs must be assigned for the
different systems.
For security reasons, you want to hide the SSID or change the password.
You want to use the existing WLAN interface to integrate the system into your own
network.
The access point is implemented as a so-called software access point using the
command line based Linux tool create_ap (https://github.com/oblique/create_ap).
create_ap has been set up in such a way that it is automatically running as a service at
system startup.
Change SSID / WLAN Password
To change the SSID, the visibility of the SSID or the WLAN password, proceed as follows:
1.
Open the file /usr/local/bin/startAP.sh in an editor with root privileges. The file has
approximately the following content:
FebriScanMobil is the SSID of the radio network and AT_FEBRISCAN_MOBIL is the
password.
If you want to hide the SSID, add the --hidden option:
create_ap --hidden wlan0 eth0 FebriScanMobil AT_FEBRISCAN_MOBIL
2.
Save the file and restart the computer.
3.
Do not forget to accept the settings on the associated user display.
Deactivating the Access Point
If you want to deactivate the access point completely, e.g. because you want to
integrate the system into your own WLAN, proceed as follows:
1.
Open a terminal window.
2.
Stop the service with sudo systemctl stop createAP.service
3.
Deactivate the service with sudo systemctl disable createAP.service
4.
Finally, the wlan0 interface must be switched back under the administration of
the network manager. To do this, open the file
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf in an editor with root privileges.
The file has approximately the following content:
