INPUT/OUTPUT PARAMETERS & FORMAT
Menu Page
This menu page is used to configure basic terminal operation. The
scanning sequences described on this page permit the user to select baud
rate and parity, specify message preamble(s) and/or postamble(s), set the
value for intercharacter delay and enable the Append Buffer.
Baud Rate
Baud rate is a means of specifying data transmission speed. This
programming selection permits the user to configure the wand for any of
eight (8) values ranging from 150 to 19200 baud.
Parity
Parity provides a means of checking character bit patterns for validity. The
wand can be configured to operate under Mark, Space, Even or Odd parity
options.
Preamble
Preambles are assigned using the programming menu. When the Preamble
selection is enabled, any combination of up to five identifiers are
transmitted as a header immediately preceding scanned bar code data.
Preamble characters may include Start Transmission (STX), Code ID and
the ASCII characters (00–7F). These characters will be transmitted in the
order in which the selections are programmed. Both preamble and
postamble menuing always start with a clean slate. Therefore, to clear all
preambles, it is necessary only to complete the programming sequence
SCAN ENTER, SCAN III, SCAN EXIT.
If the Code ID is selected as a preamble, the wand will transmit a single
lower case ASCII character to identify which symbology was decoded.
For example, Code 3 of 9 is identified by a lower case “b,” while Code 128
is identified by a lower case “j.”
