Calculations
The calculations depend on the conversion method.
Conversion method 1: from observed to standard conditions.
The function performs the following iterative algorithm to calculate the API Gravity at standard
conditions:
1.
At the start of the iteration the initial value for API Gravity at [60
F, equilibrium
pressure] is set to the Observed API Gravity. The initial CPL value is set to 1.
2.
The CTL value is determined from the API Gravity at [60
F, equilibrium pressure]
according to API 1952 Table 6.
3.
The API Gravity at [60
F, equilibrium pressure] is calculated from the Observed
API gravity, the new CTL value and the CPL value from the previous iteration.
4.
Because API 11.2.1 requires the API gravity value at 60
F, the API gravity at [60
F, equilibrium pressure] is calculated from the API gravity at [60
F, equilibrium
pressure].
5.
The compressibility factor is calculated according to API MPMS 11.2.1 from the
API gravity at [60
F, equilibrium pressure] and the 'Observed temperature'. If API
11.2.1 rounding is enabled then the API gravity and temperature are rounded
and the calculations are performed in accordance with the rounding and
truncating rules of the standard.
