With four-digit P, I, and D gains ranging from 0000 to 9999
BCD is a numeric value. These numbers contain decimal points in the middle, so the actual value is from 00.00 to 99.99.99.
Some gains have units. You can specify the gain of the integral in seconds or minutes by programming the bits shown below.
The differential gain is seconds.
The PID monitor in KPP allows you to program gains and units in real time while PID control is running. This is typically done
during PID control tuning.
Proportional gain (Kp): This is the most basic gain among the three. The range of this value is 0000 to 9999. However,
they are used internally as xx.xx. The value of "0000" removes the proportional term from the PID equation. This
corresponds to applications that require integration control.
Integral Gain (Ki): The range of this value is 0001-9998. They are used internally as xx.xx. If "0000" or "9999" is used,
the integration gain is considered "R" and the integral term is removed from the PID equation. This corresponds to
applications that require only proportional control. The unit of integration gain can be either sec or min, as shown
above.
Differential Gain (Kd): This value ranges from 0001 to 9999. They are used internally as xx.xx. The value "0000"
removes the differential from the PID equation. This corresponds to applications that require proportional and integral
or integral control. The derivative terms are described in the following sections, but they have the option of limiting
gain.
Note :
It is very important to know how to increase gains. From the proportional and differential gains, it is expected that
smaller numbers will produce less gain, and larger numbers will produce more gain. The integral term is the opposite
gain (1/Ts). Thus, smaller numbers generate more gain, and larger numbers generate less gain. Knowing this is very
important in PID control tuning.
Note: DirectSOFT4 and DirectSOFT5 are not supported.
Be sure to use KPP Ver1. 5.0.0 or higher.
